Livin' poor in Denmark

So Denmark is ranked as one of the most expensive counties in the world (3rd on the high-end on 8th on the low-end). However you look at it, it's MONEY. To get by I've been buying cheese and crackers while drinking my protein shakes that I brought from home (thanks mom). It is great when we go out to lunch and I'm like no I'm fine and chow down a balance bar at the table. Seriously, $15 for sandwich that tastes a little like 10 day old tuna (not that I've tried it ;/ ) not a good idea.

But all in all, Denmark is a good place. We took boats down the canals and saw all the new and old architecture, Simply amazing. But even more amazing... the Danish cooking.

so there is this wonderful girl across the hall named Astrid and she cooks all the time. Last night i went to bed with a wonderful warm chocolate muffin, and tonight I finished dinner with three wonderfully cooked salt buns. Damn they're good! With this treatment I won't need to spend the cash on danish food, I will simply speak to the other students and say, "Hey, I got a woman at home cookin' me meals." But seriously.. I love her.

Plus she is going to teach me to make the bread, etc. , so watch out US , if I remember how I am bakin' ya muffins :)

Leaving in poor condition

Well the time has come for me to leave my humble abode. BUT, before I left I had to get one of those wonderful vaccinations that keeps you from getting all kinds of fun diseases. Luckily, my lovely mother had shot me up with most of what I need when I was younger but the Typhoid shot was lingering in the distance.

I bit the bullet and got the shot and within an hour I was very faint. I couldn't eat all day which made me feel even worse and then was suppose to head to the city to see my Aunt Pat. So we get to San Francisco and I can barely move. My poor Aunt hadn't seen me in ages and there I am dying of typhoid (okay, a little dramatic). I proceed to the couch where I find Lost waiting in front of me. I watch Lost whilst shaking with a fever and realize that my flight to Stockholm the next day is going to be grand.

Now here I am, in Philly airport, waiting to depart for my flight to Stockholm and I can barely keep my eyes open. Mind you it's five o'clock. I've slept about 24 hours since I got the shot on Wednesday and still no energy is in sight. Maybe this eggplant sandwich will help. haha

On an up note my mom made the safest bet that anyone could make, but was made to help motivate me out of my bad habits. So the bet is that if I don't lose anything during my entire trip to god knows where, then she will give me fifty bucks. I don't have much to lose, but I usually find a way.

The Land of the Sea

So in T-minus 6-10 days I will be heading to Copenhagen, Denmark for the summer. Not my first choice but I'm sure I can keep myself occupied for the mere 6 weeks that I will be staying, plus i get to start some blog action.

My expectations for trip are low. I recently researched some "must-see activities" and to my surprise notice one called "Sculptures of the American Dream". Apparently dreams are being lived all over this world... in clay form even. The excitement quickly dropped when i saw the first picture of a toasted lady in the sun. American Dream indeed.

I will have to do further investigation once I get there. I may even have to show them what living the dream is all about.
